Turton Commercial is proud to announce the addition of David Scanlon, a 20-year urban retail leasing specialist credited with bringing some of the most iconic, desirable tenants in the nation to Midtown and Downtown Sacramento.

David is revered within the commercial real estate industry for shaping the most challenging and transformative projects in Sacramento’s urban core including Ice Blocks in Midtown Sacramento, Downtown Commons (“DOCO”) in Downtown Sacramento, and China Live in San Francisco. At Ice Blocks, he secured a lineup of first-to-market tenants including West Elm, Anthropologie, Shake Shack, Mendocino Farms, Philz Coffee, and Warby Parker—while also leading the project’s creative direction. He developed the brand identity, logo, website, and early social strategy that helped shape Ice Blocks into a recognizable destination that attracted tenants aligned with the vision. At DOCO, he led the leasing strategy on over 500,000 SF of retail and arena-adjacent space on behalf of JMA Ventures, bringing in major tenants such as Punch Bowl Social, Urban Outfitters, Polanco, and Sauced.

David’s strength lies in blending strategic tenant curation, experience-focused activation, and market-informed leasing strategies to deliver high-energy environments where businesses and communities thrive. His track record of securing unique retail and hospitality concepts has made him a trusted partner for developers looking to create lasting destinations.

In addition to his work in commercial real estate, David is one of the founders behind Pig Latin, a growing hospitality concept with locations in Elk Grove, CA, and Eagle, ID. Pig Latin blends Latin-inspired cuisine, creative design, and a vibrant, destination-style atmosphere with energetic hospitality. His experience developing restaurant concepts from the ground up—from brand identity and design to operations and market expansion—offers valuable perspective for landlords and tenants alike. With his addition, Turton strengthens its ability to serve the evolving needs of hospitality and retail food and beverage clients with real-world insight from both sides of the table.

Joining Turton means collaborating with a team that truly understands the power of creative deal-making and high-quality marketing,” said David Scanlon. “I’ve long admired their ability to think differently, push boundaries, and bring fresh energy to commercial real estate. I’m excited to contribute to that momentum.

David will play a key role in shaping several of Turton’s high-profile assignments, including The Railyards, Tower-Broadway, and two landmark suburban mixed-use projects that will redefine lifestyle development outside the urban core. His deep expertise in leasing and placemaking will help bring these transformative projects to life across the region.

David is a perfect fit for our brand and team,” said Ken Turton, Founder and President of Turton Commercial. “David is simply regarded as the best in the industry at what he does: Bringing super cool strong brand national and regional credit urban retail tenants to Sacramento’s urban core. It’s extremely difficult and I am not overstating it to say that David has amazed everyone in and out of the industry at what he has accomplished.
