As a longtime East Sacramento restaurant prepares for its final day this month, it appears a new eatery is lined up to fill its space.
The owners of Cafe Capricho are retiring, according to a social media announcement from the business. The locally owned restaurant is at 3269 Folsom Blvd. in East Sacramento. The eatery serves Mexican-American food and offers vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options, according to its Facebook page.
After 15 1/2 years, Cafe Capricho will have its final day on Jan. 16, according to the announcement. “Our family and staff want to express our great gratitude and deep appreciation for all of our dear customers,” it states.
Operators could not immediately be reached for additional comment. Cafe Capricho has 3.7 stars on Yelp, based on 500 reviews. Its menu includes options such as burgers, enchiladas and salads.
Meanwhile, a public filing suggests Cafe Capricho’s East Sacramento space could quickly get a new future.
A fictitious business name statement was filed for Fabulist Pizza at 3269 Folsom Blvd., according to Sacramento County records. Fictitious business name statements are typically filed when a business is starting up, when a statement is being renewed or when a change of ownership has occurred.
Andrew Tescher and Stacey Johnson will own the planned business, according to the filing. A message left at a phone number included on the filing was not immediately returned.
Someone named Andrew Tescher in the greater Sacramento area is an executive chef and manager for Bon Appétit Management Company at the campus of University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, according to LinkedIn. It’s unclear if that’s the same person involved in the upcoming Fabulist Pizza restaurant.
