After years of selling tacos at pop-up events and from a food truck, Banzito’s Tacos has chosen Old Town Auburn for its first brick-and-mortar shop.
Banzito’s Tacos owner Adam Saldaña said he will open a taco bar in the former Tio Pepe Mex space at 216 Washington St.
According to materials from Turton Commercial Real Estate, the space is about 5,158 square feet, which includes a 3,148-square-foot restaurant space and a 2,010-square-foot patio. The building was listed for sale at $1.35 million.
Saldaña said he found the online listing of the property on accident. He said he did not buy the building but is leasing the space.
Saldaña said he hopes to open his restaurant this fall. He said they are still deciding whether to continue selling from the food truck after the restaurant is open.
Kimio Bazett and Ken Turton from Turton Commercial Real Estate worked on this deal.
