A pastry shop plans to open in East Sacramento, public records show.

A bakery called Pastry Cat has applied to remodel a space at 5191 Sutter Park Way, according to Sacramento city records. The new tenant will join Sutter Triangle, a three-story project that includes apartments above retail spaces. Sutter Triangle is part of the Sutter Park infill project in East Sacramento.

Pastry Cat is owned by Thai-American chef Nariya Charoensupaya, according to its website. She grew up loving pasties and completed a degree at the Culinary Institute of America in 2012, the bakery’s website states. She started her cooking career in the Bay Area before moving to Sacramento in 2019.

According to its Instagram page, Pastry Cat started five years ago and Charoensupaya has mostly been selling her baked goods at other restaurants and cafes. Most recently, they popped up at Offbeat Coffee.

The pastry shop’s Instagram page shows it sells buns, breads, cakes and croissants. Some of the baked goods include Matcha Dulcey Macadamia tea cake and Korean garlic cheese buns. They also regularly put a spin on their almond croissants, using different jams and fillings.

Kimio Bazett, a director of Turton Commercial Real Estate, confirmed he brokered a lease with a tenant for the space in Sutter Triangle. He referred to the tenant as “a supremely talented and classically trained chef-owner team.”

He said the tenant plans to open “an elevated cafe concept” in spring 2026. Bazett did not name the tenant. He said he represented the tenant and the landlord was represented by Scott Kingston and Matt Axford of Turton Commercial Real Estate.

Pastry Cat owner Charoensupaya denied to comment on the business and its future plans.
