Pending Buyer Would Refurbish Clarion, Build Apartments Across Street

A pending sale set to close in September could lead to dramatic changes for a block of midtown Sacramento.
Ken Turton of Turton Commercial Real Estate said an unnamed buyer is making plans to refurbish the closed Clarion hotel at 700 16th St. and convert it into studio apartments or re-open it as a hotel. In the same, the owner would require a parking lot across 16th Street that would become either an apartment building or mixed-use building of 75 units, with plans already submitted to the city.
