Brokers: Ken Turton
Two years after forming one of the largest and most successful teams at brokerage CB Richard Ellis, Sacramento office, Ken Turton has left the company and is exploring other options.
Turton said he’ll pursue commercial real estate in a less corporate structure.
“There comes a time in everyone’s life when they must decide if they want to remain in a corporate environment, as good as it may be, or pursue something on a more independent level,” he said in an e-mail. “I will be pursuing a more entrepreneurial course of action that expands upon my area of expertise which is the leasing and sale of urban core real estate.”
Sources within the real estate industry described Turton as both aggressive and successful and said that disagreements over corporate policies might have contributed to the split.
“It’s usually not one thing,” said John Frisch, managing partner for competitor Cornish & Carey Commercial, speaking of what is typical when a broker parts with a major firm. “Ken’s a good guy and a very good broker.”
Two years ago, Turton formed a team of more than 15 people including long-serving brokers Greg Levi, Kevin Sheehan and Michael Stassi concentrating on office leasing and sales.
Levi said the team will stay together for now.
“We’re evaluating what is the best route for the team,” he said.
Turton praised the company and his former team.
“CB Richard Ellis is absolutely a first-class organization with outstanding brokers and management in every category,” he said. “I have nothing but great memories and positive things to say about them. My former teammates and I are still good friends and on excellent terms. They are best in class.”
