East Sacramento cafe Poppy by Mama Kim will close next week after more than three years in operation.
The restaurant at 533 53rd St., which offers a weekly rotating menu, announced Thursday that it will be permanently closing, with its last dinner service planned for Dec. 12.
“Serving the Sacramento community has been an absolute pleasure. Everyone’s support has meant the world to us and we are so appreciative to have been here. We want to take a moment to extend a special thank you to our loyal patrons. We are deeply grateful for your unwavering support throughout the years. Thank you for making this journey so memorable,” the business stated in its closing announcement on Facebook.
A representative with the restaurant did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Friday. In its announcement, the business didn’t state what prompted the decision to close.
Poppy by Mama Kim opened at Sutter Triangle in 2021. The mixed-use building, which was completed in 2020, features approximately 2,500 square feet of ground-floor retail space and 11 apartments upstairs. Coffee and waffle shop Druthers also operates at the project, which is located within Sutter Park, a residential development on the former site of the demolished Sutter Memorial Hospital.
Following its final dinner service, the business is planning to hold a wine closeout sale with appetizers in the space from 4 to 6 p.m.
